Mini Old Mill Tasty Shop Library
Wood, acrylic boards, vinyl letters, paints
2023

All the Front Porch creators got additional funding , so my daughter Sarah and I decided to add a little library. We designed it to mimic the store front and had a woodwork maker called “Wall to Wall Woodworks” in Mississippi build the library. Then we sanded it, stained it, painted it, sealed it, and put vinyl letters. It is installed on the left side of rail on the Front porch in front of the Old Tasty Mill Shop.

This Little Free Library is now registered in "Little Free Library" a worldwide nonprofit organization with the charter #60264. It is included in their world map and mobile app for easy access.

Mini Old Mill Tasty Shop Library #60264
The Old Mill Tasty Shop, a staple in Downtown Wichita for 90 years, has a new addition to their outdoor space - a little library! As part of the Front Porch project, Downtown Wichita paired Wichita-based creatives and business owners to create outdoor extensions of their businesses. The project focused on enhancing the culture of downtown through placemaking. Mother-daughter artist duo, Chiyoko and Sarah Myose, teamed up with Old MIll Tasty Shop to create an outdoor extension of the restaurant that celebrates the Old Mill’s 90th anniversary. The newest addition to the porch, the little library, mimics the storefront of Old Mill Tasty Shop and is a special way to encourage reading in the downtown area. Stop by the Old Mill Tasty Shop to grab a bite to eat and a book to read!
