Garo Asuka, Asuka, Nara, Japan
In 2022, I had a solo exhibition at a gallery called Garo Asuka in Asuka Village, Nara, Japan. The gallery is a renovated machiya-style building. With its latticed windows, entrance, white walls, and Mushiko windows, it has the appearance of a traditional Japanese house. Asuka is considered to be the capital of Japan during the Asuka period (6c-8c). I explored the Asuka Village and thought back to the ancient times while I was there.
