In summer 2025, I had two solo exhibitions in Peru. One was Un Hilo X Un Hilo, at Museo Convento de Santo Domingo – Qorikancha in Cusco. This was my very first show in Peru and also in South America. This site was once the most important temple of the Inca Empire and now coexists with a convent and church. I was truly excited as the gallery, sala de Bartolomé de las Casas was extremely beautiful, facing a courtyard with arch-shaped columns. For the opening reception, in coordination with the gallery, I invited local musicians and performers in traditional dress, to evoke a sense of “home” for local people and resonate with my theme. As they played, people naturally began dancing, and they invited each person into the circle of dance. It resembled the process of creating my own work, taking threads and adding them to larger elements. It was a beautiful moment seeing immediate connection between people. After the show ended, from the guest book, I noticed that visitors from more than 30 countries had added threads to my piece. Their reflections on their thoughts and engagement with my work were truly heartwarming and appreciated. This reminded me that art can connect people beyond language and nationality. It was an incredible experience. My heart is full.
