Museo Convento de Santo Domingo - Qorikancha, Cusco, Peru
In summer 2025, I had two solo exhibitions in Peru. One was titled Un Hilo X Un Hilo, held at Museo Convento de Santo Domingo – Qorikancha in Cusco, a landmark that combines the Inca temple with the Santo Domingo convent. It was a unique and significant historical place. The gallery, sala de Bartolomé de las Casas was beautiful, facing a courtyard with arch-shaped columns.
For the opening, I wanted to create a sense of “home” and resonate with my theme of connection. In coordination with the gallery, I invited local musicians and performers in traditional dress. As they played, people naturally began dancing. It was a beautiful moment that visualized “connection,” just like my thread work. Later, reading the guest book, I learned that people from more than 30 countries had added threads to the piece there. This reminded me that art can connect people beyond language and nationality.
